Tom Brady shared playing time with Drew Henson at the University of Michigan. He was drafted 199th overall in the NFL draft. Twenty years later he is playing Green Bay for an NFC championship. It is almost supernatural for a mere mortal to have this much success in this competitive arena.
I do have a theory however. Well I believe it started on cold winter night in Ann Arbor Michigan. Sitting alone in his dorm, a young sophomore hears a knock on the door. He opens the door to a tall dark haired and well dressed man with a perfectly manicured goatee. “May I help you sir asked Tom?” “On the contrary” the dapper gentleman replies. “I am here to help you.” “I am not allowed to talk to agents” Tom replied.
“Oh I am not an agent, at least not in any mortal sense” the stranger answered. “I am merely a purveyor of dreams” he explains. Tom apears interested. The man continues. ” you play quarterback at this fine institution of higher learning do you not?” “Well yes, why do you ask?” Tom asks. “What would you say if i told you that you would be playing quarterback in the NFL into your 40’s. You will win at least 6 superbowls and play in several more?” “Yeah right” Tom scoffs.
“It is true. The hall of fame is a mere formality and the money, well virtually unlimited? How does that sound?” ” Real good. Maybe a bit too good to believe.” Tom replies. “I assure you what I say will be is to be!” The stranger sternly explains. “let me sweeten the deal. Let me see. Oh I know, what if I also told you you will Marry a super model that will earn even more money than you? And all you have to do, is sign on the dotted line”
Well that is the only realistic explanation I can come up with to understand such a career. Until someone can come up with a more plausible causation I will stick with my theory.
